Representatives of Center for Survey Research (CSR) at the University of
Massachusetts at Boston will be conducting the door-to-door visits which are the
first part of this research study.
However, even before this, all of the eligible households in Boston, where people
70 years and older are living will have already received a letter in the mail letting
them know that someone will visit them from the Center for Survey Research at
UMass Boston. The letter advises them about the purpose of the visit -- to ask
them to participate in the research study at the Institute for Aging Research, and
lets them know that the person visiting will be carrying a photo identification card.
These households have been selected randomly from the census, so volunteers
for the study cannot be accepted at this time. However, because the CSR
recruiters will be visiting households for several years, someone who is not visited
now, may be visited at a later date.
